VIDEO: The closest thing to crashing... without crashing!

scooby crash

It's a common problem, and not one that's going to go away soon. If you're flat out up Kesselchen then you're going to pitching into a blind left-hander at anything up to or over 200kmh (120mph).

And if somebody is stopped the other side of that corner?

Then you get a video like this:

Now before anybody points fingers and lays blame... let's just look at what you can see in the video and follow the logical train of thought:

  • The guys in the Subarus are going fairly quickly, and they're driving in a 'pack'.
  • The problem is that driving like this is like driving in a race. You can't see what's in front of you.
  • The solution for this is a team of 600 or so trained safety marshalls with flags.
  • We don't have, and will never have, that many flags in public driving!

The drivers shouldn't feel too bad though, that was a pretty lucky escape and much more than the Ring Taxi managed a couple of years ago.

I do have ONE little suggestion though. Can we have another radio-controlled flashing yellow light around Streckenpost 127?

UPDATE: Here's the onboard from the very sideways black Subaru:
