Vipers looking for revenge?

Details

This year both the Lexus LF-A and Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 rained on the Dodge Viper ACR's parade. Previously the quickest production street-legal car around the Nordschleife at 7m22.1, the addition of semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cups and some more practice put the Corvette ZR1 ahead by some 3 seconds back in June.

Village rumours currently talk of a 7m15s lap, but whether that was a street-legal ACR or the slick-shod ACR-X remains to be seen. A 7m15s would put the Viper ahead of the 'Vette, but not ahead of the Lexus LF-A.

Today it looked very much like Chysler would like that title back, as they took to the track in absolutely perfect conditions with not one but THREE different Vipers. Two ACRs (American Club Racing) in silver and green, and one very special red ACR-X. The X on racing slicks, as befitting it's non-road-legal, pure track car status.

Interestingly, the silver car was sporting a ViperExchange.com window sticker, and both ACRs were on Texas plates, suggesting private money rather than a factory effort. Drivers were obviously pro, and I suspect involvment from the usual suspects (Heico, ADAC GT Masters etc...)

Certainly Chrysler employees were present as they were also testing and shooting the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 at the same time, complete with helicopter and gyro-camera. I guess the true laptimes, if they were quick enough, will be published soon... in the meantime enjoy the photos!

To coin a phrase the youngsters are using these days, that green and black paint job is 'sick'.

That means good.

I want one.

:-)

I'll take the Silver and Black one please.
Elegant yet sinister all in one.

Do you enjoy BTG?

BTG is NOT a massive operation; it's just me, my camera and my computer. And a lot of help from my friends and family. Thanks!
