Just how did you crash there?! GT86 Fail at the 'Ring

The Nürburgring never ceases to amaze me. Actually, I'm not telling the whole truth there... it's the people who DRIVE the Nürburgring that really surprise me!

Take this guy/girl, for example. I have literally no idea that could credibly explain this crash.

  • The driver crashed at the exit of the track. In a 20kmh zone!
  • They wiped out the whole front-left corner of their rented GT86. (That's an €8900 excess)
  • They successfully drove a whole 20.8km lap in the rain before they crashed.

Do you know this driver? Can you shed light on what happened here?

Here's another photo (note that the blue Audi is NOT involved).

Hi Dale, if I may ask: What does this excess amount mean in this context? Let's say if the damage would be 4000 euro? I would like to understand how this works in the car rental business. Cheers!

Hi veejay, in your example, bloke has to cough up 4k for the damage. If the cost for repair works amounted to 10k, he pays only 8,900 because that was his excess.
