These are the roadworks at Breidscheid bridge today. And the reason? An acoustic wall. We're not talking Pink Floyd here, we're talking about a big sound-absorbent barrier to protect the town of Adenau from the ceaseless howl of cars and bikes accelerating over Ex-Muehle and towards Lauda links.

Now, I don't know about you, but a cup of hot chocolate outside the Blaue Ecke on a Sunday morning just wouldn't be the same without the background noise of the Nurburgring Nordschleife touristenfahrten. Of course, I don't live in Adenau either, so I'm probably not allowed to comment!

I'm not even going to start talking about the senseless destruction of an aesthetic section of the track... Oh, I just did. Let's look at Breidscheid one last time, without a wall and in the middle of summer... it might be annoying to have barriers like this going up. But it would be even more annoying to have the track closed...

At least whilst in the new "tunnel" the sound of a decent car should be music to ones ears.

So eating at Treffpunkt Wehrseifen should be even more of an aural delight...

Quoting Andrew Thompson:

After the 24h it will definitely have similar Graffiti art on its surface.

Who's going to sponsor it though? I think Durex would be good, as it'll offer the ultimate protection.

Seems a shame, but not as much as other green alternatives.
