VLN1 was an incredible spectacle. Not only was the weather unusually perfect, but the action was none-stop. For the spectators, this was simply awesome.

Driving the VLN Test & Einstellfahrten: wet and wild

After the heart-lifting golden sunshine of the Nürburgring’s first weekend of opening, it should be no surprise that the second week was completely the opposite.

Sure enough, moody dark clouds, full of morale-sapping drizzle, hung low over the Eifel mountains on Saturday as over 100 VLN racing cars took to the Nordschleife.

Brünnchen mods finished – VLN racecars hit the Nordschleife tomorrow

Would there be gravel, wouldn’t there? It was the question on every fan’s lips after this story appeared on BridgeToGantry.

As one of the most-crashed corners of the Nürburgring, and a constant feature of Nürburgring Youtube channels, the safety of Brünnchen is important for the reputation of the Nordschleife.

Easier and safer than before? The Nürburgring is OPEN for 2017

In a very pleasant surprise, the Nürburgring Nordschleife opened a whole week earlier than planned. Not only that, but the weather was also unusually warm and mild, with dark blue skies and some almost-warm sunshine!

This resulted in two full days of perfect lapping for those lucky enough to be able to react to the short-notice opening. Thanks to Racers Retreat Nürburg and their rental E36, that included me!

The tl;dr is that it looks like they ‘boosted’ the SV750 video speedo, which then made the Huracan video look ‘fake’. All along it was the SV750 video that had the GPS speedo numbers ‘boosted’ with a maths channel.

Hell, I still get messages exclaiming disgust for how I must ‘hate’ Alfa Romeo, just because I had the audacity to say that a laptime boast delivered at a press conference isn’t the same as actually showing us the lap.
