This is the new Renault Megane R26.R - the final fling for the current shape model. It's also, according to Renault, the fastest ever production front-wheel-drive car to lap the Nürburgring. Click here to see the video and read more!

This set of photos is a good excuse for all you track junkies to go out and spend a bit of quality time with your alloy wheels. Polish them, caress them. Ensure that they are happy. And if they're showing any signs of fatigue... BIN THEM!

Genuine Ronal alloy wheel left the car and bounced 200metres down the track!
Luckily for me, this alloy wheel fractured on a relatively slow corner. MORE WORDS AND PICTURES INSIDE...

Without any further ado, here it is. The new mass production supercar King of the Ring - the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
- Nice gloves.
- I hate that whole 'holding the wheel whereever it lands' thing. Quarter to three or die!
- He almost HAS to hold the wheel like my grandad, as the rack is soooo long.
- That is bastard fast! 171mph into SX?
- Tidier driving could yield more than a few seconds... no speed into Wipperman and just floating through the centre of the track all the way from Eschbach to Eiskurve with no apexes. As for Schwalbenschwanz... ouch.
- Because he turns in early at two of the key corners and is forced to feather the throttle until he's almost exited (Hocheichen and Bergwerk) he loses lots of time on the following flat-out sections (QH-FP-SX and Kesselchen run, respectively).
