After weeks of following the #Club1000 Facebook page we finally bit the bullet (and got permission from the wife) and decided to hit the road today to pick up our #Club1000 weapon of choice, an ’05 Nissan Micra K12 with just over 71k on the clock.

It was an eventful day to day to say the least.

07:20: Slightly bleary eyed from the previous nights shenanigans at Oktoberfest at Canary Wharf, we hit the road, @eddiea at the wheel.

    Road trip

12:44: We arrived in Plymouth to see the beast. It was a thing of beauty. Keyed on both sides, a couple of rust bubbles (nothing major), and an interior which left a lot to be desired. We happily parted with our cash and loaded it up.

    Loading up

15:00: Pit stop. Diesel and pasties. A lairy looking seagull waits for our leftovers. The greedy bastard doesn’t get any. We make contact with James Aylward to make provisional arrangements for our roll cage.

16:17: The K12’s first casualty. One of four mismatched tyres, cracked and unevenly worn after years of neglect finally gives up the ghost. We hear an odd noise followed seconds later by a cloud of smoke as the front nearside tyre gives up the ghost. After some examination it looks as though the inner face of the tyre had developed a bulge and was rubbing against the shock, it was an accident waiting to happen and definitely made us feel towing rather than driving was the right decision. We fit a well worn space saver we found in the boot. The previous careful owner had somehow managed to kerb this more than the full size wheels and used the tread to near legal limit.

    Blowout

17:09: Finally home. Assessing the mess. All in all a fairly decent use of a Saturday.

    Finally home

And here’s a final picture in all her glory:

    Full frontal

We’ve got something special planned, watch this space…
