The battle for Nürburgring laptime supremacy is the gift that just keeps giving. This week it’s Lamborghini’s turn to wow the assembled internet crowds, by claiming a truly incredible 6m44.97s laptime for their new Aventador SVJ (the J is for Jota). As reported on earlier in the week by BTG, Porsche’s amazing 520hp GT3 RS did indeed go sub-7 several times during Monday’s exclusive test session.
And strap in tight, get the swear-jar in front of you, ready to receive all of your pocket change, because here’s the video proof of just how loony-awesome Kévin can drive a Porsche:
Standing at T13, the conditions tonight at the Nordschleife are perfect for a lap record. Cool air, dry surface, just a hint of sunshine peeking through the stormy clouds.
Porsche booked two full evenings just for laptiming this week; Tuesday and Wednesday. Yesterday the weather was much cooler, and the track a bit slippery. Locals reported laptimes of over 7-minutes. Continue reading UPDATED VIDEO: Porsche 991 GT2RS goes sub-7
This rather nice looking Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Speedster was probably the most expensive car lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife today. And that’s even including two very blue McLaren MSO-kitted 720s… (more on those later)
They’re here. They’ve arrived. The Vipers are pounding the Nürburgring Nordschleife even as I write this article. Don’t believe me? Watch the short video I made this morning trackside.
After rounds of crowdfunding, corporate sponsorship and a helluva-lot of bloody-mindedness, the guys have managed to get both Vipers here, a crew of mechanics and engineers, and two professional drivers. But it’s been 7 years since they were last here.
While the Dodge Demon focussed on power, acceleration and straightline drag racing to make it’s name. The new Camaro 1LE returned to the Nürburgring. With ‘only’ 640hp on tap from it’s supercharged V8, this muscle car can’t be underestimated…
…because it just did a 7m16s lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
And you can watch it right here: Continue reading VIDEO: This is the new Camaro ZL1 1LE doing a 7m16s lap of the Nürburgring
Warm up your typing fingers and don your flame-proof suit, things are about to get ugly in internetland; Honda just dropped this video, and they’re claiming that the newest Civic Type-R is even faster than the VW Golf Clubsport S. Continue reading FULL VIDEO: Honda Civic Type-R claims new FWD Nürburgring lap record
It’s no secret that the good ol’ boys at GM have brought their latest, hot-snot, Corvette to the Nürburgring. But have you seen the rear-end of this beast? It’s a mess.
While the internet is on fire, and supercar fans are rioting in the streets, Lamborghini must have slipped this video out the back door.
It explains so much, and I hope it will help bury this painful episode quickly and painlessly.
See for yourself:
They did it, and they shot the video to prove it. Ride onboard with the new 2017 Lamborghini Huracan Performante for a ridiculous 6m52s industry-length lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Holy crap. Batshit fast. But rather controlled, don’t you think? Nothing like crazy Aventador lap.
Maybe it’s the low-down bumper-cam hides some of the cockpit drama, but there’s virtually no understeer on display. This is an impressive car, and the much vaunted active arrow are certainly having an effect.
But there’s always a ‘but’, isn’t there?
Here it comes; the 2016 track is faster thanks to the modifications at Flugplatz. That’s not opinion, that’s fact. Just look at the many sub-8 VLN laps this year for proof.
But is it five whole seconds faster? The Porsche 918 hybrid did 6m57s remember?
Next: tyres. Wow! The car looks like it could be on slicks, it’s so planted. Officially, they’re PirelliTrofeo R, in case you’re wondering!
We need to know more…
