VIDEO: The most amazing save I’ve ever seen…

People ask me why I insist on rollcages for our #CLUB1000 cars. Now I have a video I can share that illustrates perfectly why small cars can be more dangerous than you think.

And, amazingly, nobody was hurt!

[VIDEO] Watch *that* 14-car pile-up from a new angle, and try your best to heed the advice!

I spend a lot of time on BTG trying to explain how your best lap of the Nordschleife can rapidly go to hell-in-a-handbasket in a few seconds. Last year’s 14-car clusterf*** was a prime example of your worst Nuerburgring nightmare.

But this time, I’m going to let somebody else explain… Continue reading [VIDEO] Watch *that* 14-car pile-up from a new angle, and try your best to heed the advice!

RANT: Why laptiming is killing Nürburgring TF

The irony of that headline isn’t lost on me. My rants are not totally crazy (yet). This website is called BridgeToGantry.com for many reasons, including the most obvious one. Continue reading RANT: Why laptiming is killing Nürburgring TF

VIDEO: Ferrari bumps innocent Starlet, life basically sucks sometimes

It’s absolutely one of the most common questions I used to face when I worked at Rent4Ring. “What do I do if some guy bumps into me and it’s not even my fault?”

The answer I would give in those days (and the answer I’d still give right now) is simple: Continue reading VIDEO: Ferrari bumps innocent Starlet, life basically sucks sometimes

McLaren fluid spill causes 10-car crash and closes the Nuerburgring early

After a wet and drizzle-filled Saturday Touristenfahrten session, most visitors to this weekend’s Oldtimer GP were waiting for the predicted sunny Sunday afternoon weather to drive their laps of the Nordschleife. Continue reading McLaren fluid spill causes 10-car crash and closes the Nuerburgring early

VIDEO: Bike vs. Car, it’s ugly.

Now any collision between a ton-and-a-half of car and some poor bloke on a bike is going to be ugly.

But luckily for the biker, he lives to ride another day. If he feels like it…

…because from this angle I’ve got to say: damn, he really screwed that up.

Watch for yourself: Continue reading VIDEO: Bike vs. Car, it’s ugly.

Schwedenkreuz proves it isn’t getting any easier

You’d think that with the proliferation of the internet and the reach of social media, that maybe the accident rate at the Nürburgring would slow down a little. That maybe, because most Nordschleife accidents are more widely viewed than ever before, visitors might be a little more cautious. Or at least, a little bit more aware of the consequences they face.

This BMW 5-series rolling over the fence into the forest at Schwedenkreuz sadly proves otherwise. Continue reading Schwedenkreuz proves it isn’t getting any easier

Today we lost a good guy at the ‘Ring, and we need to fix that.

By now you might have heard that there was a horrific accident at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. That a man was run over while running along the track.  Well, let me put that somewhat ludicrous statement into perspective. Continue reading Today we lost a good guy at the ‘Ring, and we need to fix that.

VIDEO: Luckiest biker ever survives 160kmh ‘push’ and two barrier impacts.

If you don’t physically flinch when watching this next video, you’re either a psychopath or a robot. Because this is one of the scariest videos I’ve seen in a while.

The action kicks off after the karussell (7m25s) when the camera bike follows the red cayman up the hill towards Hohe Acht, overtaking the cars on the right. Continue reading VIDEO: Luckiest biker ever survives 160kmh ‘push’ and two barrier impacts.

Nürburgring’s most famous corner goes (almost) gravel-free

It’s the star of a thousand internet videos, and has jokingly been renamed “YouTube Corner”. But now the Nürburgring’s famous Brünnchen 2 is going almost gravel-free.

Now don’t get your knickers in a twist. The old Nordschleife is a constantly changing beast, and track modifications happen every year. I’ll be talking about some more 2017 modifications soon.

But this change, while theoretically without consequence for any ‘normal’ track user, is bound to cause a bit of head-scratching for many regulars.

Why? Take a look for yourself…
