Before the internet is set ablaze by the new 991 GT2RS doing a ridiculous laptime with a factory driver, and tyres hand-delivered from Clermont-Ferrand, I just wanted to share this latest SportAuto video.
It’s magazine road tester Christian Gebhardt going hell for leather in the Manthey-modded, ex-factory test mule 991 GT3RS.

Considering that these are the guys who helped develop and build the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, there was little doubt it was going to be fast. But did you ever think it would be THIS fast?
Sitting in my office yesterday lunchtime, considering food, watching the snowflakes swirling past the window, I hear the bark of a flat-six starting up. A mini-crescendo that tails off quickly to a fast idle as a Porsche race-car warms up.
Then another one. And another. And another….
Now that’s not too unusual when your office is next to the Nürburgring Nordschleife, but this is February, remember? We’re nearly two months away from the first race. Like a nosey old woman, I poke my head out of the window to see what’s going on.
As many as 15 Cayman GT4s might be racing in next year’s VLN Championship, according to two different industry insiders.
Today Porsche are launching the Cayman GT4 Clubsport to the world’s press at the LA Motorshow with price stickers and possible championships. But behind the scenes, the cars are already allocated and ready to be built.
We can even expect a single-make ‘Cup’ class (much like the very popular M235i class, and the less popular GT86 class).
