They claim their new SUV did 7m51.7s. That’s nearly 25s quicker than a 600kg heavier Range Rover SVR.
But unfortunately, whoever edited the following video did a crappy job, so while the video adds up to exactly 7m51.7s of running, the car covers some sections twice and misses other sections completely.
In other words, it’s a fake video. Maybe, maybe the car did the laptime. But not on this video. So we have to trust a manufacturer that edits videos together.
Let me explain, click play and follow me down the rabbit hole… Continue reading UPDATED: Alfa Stelvio QV claims Nürburgring lap record using heavily cut video
This is the fastest street-legal, almost mass production car you’ve ever seen lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
It’s the Porsche GT2RS and not only does it hit ridiculous speeds (293kmh before SX, 313kmh on DH!) but it also corners like a demon rollercoaster on titanium rails.
You. Must. Watch. This. Video.

It’s been a long road to get here, but the Viper just went even faster. With Dom heading to Silverstone, VLN regular and ex Porsche Cup driver Lance David Arnold stepped into the car for a quick couple of laps in the middle of a Pistenclub trackday.
After only a few laps of warm-up, he clocked the 7m01.3 lap you can watch below, and on the second lap the front tyre blew (more on that at a later date!)
For now, just enjoy the video:

It’s absolutely one of the most common questions I used to face when I worked at Rent4Ring. “What do I do if some guy bumps into me and it’s not even my fault?”
The answer I would give in those days (and the answer I’d still give right now) is simple: Continue reading VIDEO: Ferrari bumps innocent Starlet, life basically sucks sometimes
Before the internet is set ablaze by the new 991 GT2RS doing a ridiculous laptime with a factory driver, and tyres hand-delivered from Clermont-Ferrand, I just wanted to share this latest SportAuto video.
It’s magazine road tester Christian Gebhardt going hell for leather in the Manthey-modded, ex-factory test mule 991 GT3RS.
And it’s awesome.
Now back to work you slackers, it’s still 8 hours ’til the weekend!
Before you watch this video, consider some/all of the following points:
- This is the first opportunity that Dom had to do a full lap with no limits, no traffic, and a stopwatch.
- The Viper is off a showroom floor, totally standard, with standard tyres. It’s tweaked; but by that I mean every component has been checked, aligned, and set up for the Nordschleife. This is a very adjustable car, a real sports car. Stock tyres, stock brakes, stock car.
- Dominik clearly isn’t 100% comfortable with a manual gearbox.
- He’s happy to admit there’s more time on the table. In his own word, “six or seven seconds, easy”
- This is an AMATEUR effort, not a multi-million factory test program.
- The team are trying to come back to the Nürburgring next month…

It’s called the ACL2, and it’s a heavily modified F22 BMW 235i built by German tuners AC Schnitzer. The Aachen-based firm has a long history of tuning BMWs, but still, this must be slightly irking for the guys behind the mega-bucks M4 GTS. Warm up your typing fingers and don your flame-proof suit, things are about to get ugly in internetland; Honda just dropped this video, and they’re claiming that the newest Civic Type-R is even faster than the VW Golf Clubsport S. They did it, and they shot the video to prove it. Ride onboard with the new 2017 Lamborghini Huracan Performante for a ridiculous 6m52s industry-length lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Holy crap. Batshit fast. But rather controlled, don’t you think? Nothing like crazy Aventador lap.
Maybe it’s the low-down bumper-cam hides some of the cockpit drama, but there’s virtually no understeer on display. This is an impressive car, and the much vaunted active arrow are certainly having an effect.
But there’s always a ‘but’, isn’t there?
Here it comes; the 2016 track is faster thanks to the modifications at Flugplatz. That’s not opinion, that’s fact. Just look at the many sub-8 VLN laps this year for proof.
But is it five whole seconds faster? The Porsche 918 hybrid did 6m57s remember?
Next: tyres. Wow! The car looks like it could be on slicks, it’s so planted. Officially, they’re PirelliTrofeo R, in case you’re wondering!
We need to know more…
It’s an argument that’s probably as old as the Nurburgring Nordschleife itself. When an overtake results in a crash, both drivers will normally blame each other. In some circumstances it’s hard to ever place blame on one driver completely. Continue reading VIDEO: Why checking your mirrors is quite important on the ‘Ring
