Only PSM and divine intervention prevented this Porsche crashing

It’s not often I’m lost for words when watching an onboard video from the Nürburgring, but I was totally dumb-struck as I watched this onboard from the weekend’s Touristenfahrten.

It shows a rented Porsche Cayman being driven somewhat enthusiastically. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all about enthusiasm, and I’ve not forgotten the times back when I was learning the 20.8km Nordschleife. I went over Adenauer Forst, and I span, many times. Nobody’s perfect, am I right?

But THIS?! I am literally astounded he didn’t crash. The fact he finishes the lap without a scratch on the car makes me wonder if it isn’t just an amazingly elaborate hoax using an amazing pro driver…

DISCLAIMER: Not a single apex was harmed in the making of this film.

As is the norm here on BTG, here are some handy bite-sized tips you can take away from this rather silly video:

  • The first time you run wide and nearly crash your rented Porsche Cayman S with a €50,000 excess, why not slow the f*** down and count to 10?
  • If there’s a car in your mirror, and you think “my car is more expensive/faster than that one, I’m not moving over…”  then you are a d*ck.
  • Porsche Stability Management (PSM) can save your wallet, and your life. I doff my cap to the engineers behind it, the proof of their true genius is in that video.
  • If you’re watching this video and thinking “Looks good to me!” then please can you fix a flashing red light to your roof so that other BTG readers can see you from a distance and take avoiding action.

Peace out, BTGers… drive safe and have fun!

(and don’t be a d*ck)
