Today wasn’t just a lovely November Touristenfahrten day, it was the final planned day of Nürburgring Nordschleife driving in 2015. BTG was there, to the very last minute, and the very last lap…
A lot of people ask me “How could we make the Nürburgring’s Touristenfahrten safer?”
The simple answer is probably just close the gate on Sunday at 11pm. But that’s not much fun, is it? An unrealistic answer would be more marshalls, flags (electronic F1-style lightboards would be fine) and a compulsory safety briefing delivered in every language. None of these are compatible with the wonderful freedom of old-school Touristenfahrten.
So here’s the BTG effort at keeping you guys safe. Watch these 16 minutes of crashing, smashing and failing. And repeat after me:
“Don’t be that guy!”

I’ll keep this super-short, as it’s just me selling you stuff. Cool Nordschleife themed stuff that you can’t buy in any shop, at a special price, this week only.
More photos below, and you need to go to the Fabriliy shop to buy the shirt (international shipping!).
Within 20 seconds of starting this video, I *knew* it was going to a bad one. And I wasn’t wrong. (No, I’m not talking about the gloves-and-no-helmet stereotype).
Yellow flags waving, traffic slowing, and the driver of this Megane is gently accelerating and looking for an overtake on the right side.
Within a minute he’s speeding into a yellow zone and losing control heading straight for a marshall!
Amazingly enough, the uploader claims he completed 29 laps and put all the ‘best’ footage together. I say “amazingly” because after only a few minutes of watching, I begin to wonder how he made more than 1 lap without the help of Mr. Bongard. Or how he didn’t get a lifetime ban and a kick up the arse from everybody wearing a yellow vest.
This weekend the Nürburgring was busy. No, it was packed. Actually, it was SWARMING with holiday-happy visitors.
Perfect weather, an epic VLN race on Saturday (Alzen Ford GT OMG-edition), and then a full day of TF on Sunday.
“What could possibly be better?!”
The Nürburgring has long been a fantastic marketing tool for firms and brands all around the world – and long may that continue! But every now and again, somebody oversteps the mark, and the gritty, authentic, Green Hell looks a little cheaper because of it.
Yes, I’m talking about the lady in the BMW and her “puking customer” at Brunnchenn 2…
According to the official Nürburgring website, the new pricing structure for the Nürburgring Nordschleife tourist sessions will NOT be implemented on May 1st, as originally planned.
