There’s nothing quite as exciting as kicking-off the new season with one of the biggest weekends of the whole year. Thanks to the unusually long winter break, that’s almost exactly what happened this year.
Easter has been a 4-day extravaganza of Nurburgring Nordschleife terroristenfahrten for as long as I can ever remember. The weather normally alternates between early Summer and late Arctic winter. This year we got both of those extremes in one weekend…

I’m so excited now, and relieved. And happy. With barely a week before the first race of the season, our MilltekFiesta just got a serious dose of Revo power.
As I write this blog post, Peter is driving back to the UK in the 300hp hybrid-turbo’d Revo Fiesta ST after two very hectic days. He’s left us with a car that’s not only faster, but one that’s hopefully more reliable too. Continue reading REVO just added more power to our VLN Fiesta
The weather might not have been optimal, but that didn’t stop hundreds of true-believers hitting the Nurburgring Nordschleife for the first day of public driving in 2016.
And (for those who don’t read BTG) they were in for a big surprise too, with a whole new one-way system in the car park, and some big changes to the Nordschleife’s layout.
Here are the changes in full, along with a (hopefully) a useful video to share with your friends.

Today the Nuerburgring’s racing season officially started, with a very public test day on the GP circuit, and a thoroughly unannounced BMW M6 GT3 test session on the old Northloop. Tomorrow the main test switches to the VLN layout, with 90 cars hitting the 25km combined circuit.
Today I hit both locations to bring you an overview of the happenings…

It’s that time of the year again, when the Nürburgring is opening its doors, setting out its metaphorical stall and making sure that everybody knows just what’s on the menu this year.
And what better way of spreading that message, in this digital age, than with an emotional, beautiful, and totally kick-ass video?
There is no better way. And that’s why I’m sharing the official video right here. It’s awesome and it captures so many moments of a typical ring season… enjoy!

After Monday’s excitement with Porsche throwing a 2016 GT3R around the Nordschleife, it should be no surprise that the Nürburgring is getting back up to speed this week.
In fact, by Tuesday afternoon the Eifel forests were being serenaded by engines of all sizes, thanks to the first Industrie-Pool session of the year.
But not everything is finished in Nürburgring-land though, as these photos of the new ‘Flugplatz’ section show. Continue reading Industry testing resumes at the Nordschleife – with limits
It’s been a long time coming, but finally the ‘Ring is open again. After extensive modifications at Flugplatz and Brünnchen, the FIA have inspected the circuit. While the official announcement might be a few hours or days away, Porsche didn’t waste any time at all…
It shows just how rusty I’ve become over winter, that when Daniel and I heard the familiar howl of a flat-6 down Döttinger Höhe, I didn’t even have a camera charged and in the car. By the time I made it to the closest photo point, the 2016 GT3R we’d heard had already made two laps and the marshall was back inside his car, presumably trying to warm up again.

Just in case it escaped your attention, the Nürburgring Nordschleife is quite busy these days. It’s a fact that’s not escaped the attention of the Nürburgring management.
As the Devil’s Diner was open this afternoon, I thought I’d stop and say hello to its enigmatic manager, Didi. But what I saw out of the window was a bit of a surprise…
Construction crews have removed the last couple of parking spaces and made a ‘shortcut’ from the exit lane of the Nordschleife to a point directly in front of the restaurant.

When I posted a photo of some new garages being delivered to the Nürburgring’s industrial area on the official BTG Facebook page, I just thought it might be useful information.
But I didn’t expect my phone to start ringing and my email to glow red-hot. So here’s the low-down…
