Porsche’s soon-to-be-officially-acknowledged 991-shaped GT2 is still pounding out the laps at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The weather is utterly fantastic right now, though with track temperatures hitting nearly 50ºC at times, laptimes are not exactly at the top of the priority list. Continue reading More Porsche 991 GT2 photos
August is here, the weather is glorious, and every session of terroristenfahrten (public driving) is crazy busy, and crazy, well, just crazy!
And thanks to the statistically better weather, the industry pool can get a little bit more interesting too. More supercars appear, and they’re driving faster than ever. Continue reading Second-gen Porsche 991 GT3 edges closer to release
It’s all fun and games until somebody hits the grass. And when this Porsche 911 hits the grass at the outside of Metzgesfeld, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was all over.
I certainly expected the Porker to hit the barrier pretty hard. Luckily for him, the ground was dry enough to allow just enough friction for the car to change direction.

Sit down, get a cup of tea (or coffee, if you’re a heathen) and get ready. Because I need to get something off my chest.
Today’s rant has been precipitated by the arrival of a new video by Porsche, pushing their new luxury sedan, the Panamera. For the sake of completeness, I’ve included it below: Continue reading RANT: Stop bullsh***ing us with your Nürburgring Laptimes
It’s nearly time for VLN4, so let’s get warmed up with a scintillating lap onboard the Stilgut GetSpeed Cayman GT4 Clubsport, as resident pro-driver Moritz Kranz chases a (theoretically) far superior Ferrari 458 race car…

Nigel Pinder’s Golf mk2 turbo is no stranger to the pages of BTG. The Pinderwagen, as BTG christened it, has turned up numerous times on DestinationNürburgring events. It’s a giant-slayer, and with its impressive power-to-weight ratio and strong aeros, this little Golf can help keep any legendary supercar honest.
And supercars don’t get any more legendary than the newest 991 GT3.RS, piloted by no less than Chris Harris!

Last month I shot a rather nice Porsche GT4 Cup car for Getspeed. Turns out that one of the drivers this year is my mate Moritz… better still he was at the Skylimitevents trackday yesterday, and he shot us this video. Enjoy!

Sitting in my office yesterday lunchtime, considering food, watching the snowflakes swirling past the window, I hear the bark of a flat-six starting up. A mini-crescendo that tails off quickly to a fast idle as a Porsche race-car warms up.
Then another one. And another. And another….
Now that’s not too unusual when your office is next to the Nürburgring Nordschleife, but this is February, remember? We’re nearly two months away from the first race. Like a nosey old woman, I poke my head out of the window to see what’s going on.

Just strike this one up on the massive list titled “Missed Opportunities at the Nürburgring”. While there’s nothing wrong with this video of a classic Rothmans-liveried Porsche 911 rally car enjoying the Nürburgring GP circuit, there’s nothing really that exciting either.

As many as 15 Cayman GT4s might be racing in next year’s VLN Championship, according to two different industry insiders.
Today Porsche are launching the Cayman GT4 Clubsport to the world’s press at the LA Motorshow with price stickers and possible championships. But behind the scenes, the cars are already allocated and ready to be built.
We can even expect a single-make ‘Cup’ class (much like the very popular M235i class, and the less popular GT86 class).
UPDATE: Manthey Racing just OFFICIALLY launched their new “Cayman GT4 Trophy” at VLN!
